RIO VISTA PTA 2010 - 2011 Hello Rio Vista staff and parents! My name is Carey Clubb, and I am very excited about the opportunity to serve as your new PTA president. I’d like to take a few moments to introduce myself. I grew up in Anaheim and currently work as a fireman for the City of Orange. My wife and I have two children currently attending Rio Vista Elementary. My son is in 5th grade, soon to leave Rio Vista and attend Valadez, and my daughter is in 1st grade. So I have a vested interest in having a strong PTA. I intend to keep and build on the great programs offered at Rio Vista. My wife and I have been involved with school activities for the past 6 years. Most of that involvement has been helping with PTA activities. I spent last year as a BOXTOP coordinator and worked directly with the PTA board. Though this is the first time I have held a position on the board, my involvement during these past years has given me an understanding of the importance the PTA plays in our kids’ education. I look forward to the 2010 – 2011 school year. Rio Vista has always had wonderful field trips and activities for the students and parents to enjoy. My priority as president is to continue all of these programs for the children. It will be a challenging task with the current budget adjustments all schools are facing. Therefore, I am asking all parents, grandparents, and family members to help with the PTA by simply becoming a PTA member at the start of the school year. Your $10 enrollment fee for each adult family member is the best way, and really the only way, to have your money go directly to the Rio Vista Elementary children. Every penny of your membership fee goes to support the field trips and education activities that our children enjoy. No government (federal, state, or local) taxes or school district expenses are taken out of those funds. No PTA board members receive any of the money raised by the PTA. 100% goes to the Rio Vista children. Additionally, all money raised thru fundraising events goes 100% to the Rio Vista children. With your help thru donations of time and money, all PTA funded events (field trips for all grades, dessert extravaganzas, Imagination Machine and Walk thru History assemblies, etc.) will continue for Rio Vista Elementary despite these challenging economic times. Funding for programs and events will be the biggest challenge the PTA faces for the next few years. Because of funding cuts from the state, many of these great events I mentioned earlier will only happen if PTA can help pay for them. I ask every Rio Vista parent to please take on this responsibility. Together we can make sure that the activities that benefit our children continue. Invest and show interest in our kids’ future thru Rio Vista Elementary and the PTA. I urge you to get involved with the PTA and check our web link on the Rio Vista School web page often. Updated information on events that you can help with will be posted. Remember, “Rio Vista PTA is 100% Rio Vista Kids!” Carey Clubb Rio Vista PTA President |
